How?
Who am I?
My name is Kees Huizinga. I started as a guitarist and played in a number of bands. In those bands I co-wrote songs and composed music. After recording an album with a band I got into music production and started recording. I studied composition, music and studio productions at the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen. After that I recorded and mixed local bands and artists, produced beats with hip-hop and dance acts and made arrangements with virtual instruments. At first in my previous studio in Zuidhorn and now in my new studio in Emmen, the Netherlands.

Vandenhorn ft. Dion Bouwes – Beautiful

Vandenhorn is my current project. As my alter ego Vandenhorn, I write and release music as an independent artist. The first song called Beautiful. It’s about longing for things that are bad for you.. It features lead vocals by Dion Bouwes of Steernvanger and Cutting Grass. He did a great job! I’m very proud of this first release!
Lotz of Fun – Happy (Cover)

This was session was lotz of fun! The band recorded two songs at my previous studio in Zuidhorn (NL). The songs Happy by Pharrell Williams and Seven Nation Army by White Stripes were given a different approach. The basic tracks were recorded within 5 takes, with the lead vocal recorded simultaniously. After adding just a few guitar, vocal and percussion overdubs, recording was done.
Frequency North Productions – Keep on movin’

The song Keep On Movin’ is all about the collaborations. The beat is produced by Marco Meijer of Frequency North Productions. The lead vocalist is Eline. I wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals. The low male voice in the middle is Deon the Director. The song also features some friends adding there vocal input as well. I Love the end result!
Cutting Grass – Supernova

Cutting Grass was the first real good rock band I recorded in Zuidhorn. The project was a six song EP. These guys can play and wrote some great songs. We recorded the EP in four days. All original songs. It took me a while to mix the record, but I still stand behind the sound we created.
PCC Jazz Sextet – When the sun goes down

This Jazz arrangement goes back to 2006. It was an assignment for the course I was attending at the Prins Claus Conservatory at the time. When The Sun Goes Down is a song by the band I was in called Dwarsliggers. This Jazz version features Kurt Weiss on trumpet leading a group of students from the Jazz department of the school. I wrote the sheet music, including the notes for the first saxophone solo, the other solo’s are improvised.
Dorien & Alles Kids Koor – Haai zwaai Sinterklaas

This song is for a traditional children’s event in the Netherlands. Dorien Assen is the lead vocalist, the backing vocals are done by the occasional choir “Alles Kids Koor”. I tried my best to write a happy song for the kids, which was great fun!
Wouter Velzen & OCP – Mary did you know (virtual orchestration)
Co-arranged & mixed by Original Case Productions
For an online Christmas performance of British singer Blake Patrick Anderson Wouter Velzen teamed up with me to provide an instrumental backing track for Blake to perform to. The song is Mary did you know. After the show called Mulled Wine, two reviews stated the song was the highlight of the evening!

In my home studio you can record your vocal tracks in a quiet environment and with the comfort of a well prepared session. I can coach you through the takes and give you feedback and tips.
